The Yearning for What I Once Knew

The cool breeze rests atop the blue

ocean. The waves

crash in, pulling things out

bringing changed things

In. It pulled something

out to its depths, something I once

knew. It never gave It back.

A perfect thief, there lies the ocean.

If you knew It was out there

somewhere, would you

ever stop looking?

Would you let the ocean take

your hope with It

and give up on the

grainy sand?

Lost and depressed,

burnt alive in the sun.

No.

I let the ocean steal me

too. I drift out in

hopes to find what was stolen.

I drift out, my hope drifting

with me. I drift and drift

for 100 days into the depths

of the ocean and

drown. Drowning with

my hope and what

I once knew. That which

was never coming back to me.

Did the ocean kill me?

Did hope kill me?

Did the yearning to have back

what I once knew kill me,

or did I kill myself?
